Specialist Observations

I carry out observations in schools and educational settings to help staff understand a learner’s strengths, needs and next steps. My approach is calm, respectful and curiosity led. All observations take place in the child or young person’s usual learning environment unless a home visit has been specifically requested.

Observations are collaborative and practical, with clear suggestions that staff can use in everyday classroom life.

Observation Options

90 Minute Visit

This flexible visit can be used for:
• a focused observation of one child, followed by a summary of recommendations
• a review visit for one or two children previously seen
• a short, targeted problem-solving discussion

 

Half Day Visit (2 to 3 hours)

This visit can be used for:
• a longer, more in-depth observation of one child, including a comprehensive Record of Observation
• two shorter observations, each with a written summary
• meetings, modelling or professional discussions as required

• Parents and carers, either for home-based visits or, with agreement from the setting, nursery or school-based observations

All in-person visits include clear, practical next steps. Written notes vary depending on the visit type, as outlined in the Services menu.
