
Hello
I'm Jamie, a Specialist Teacher based in Faversham, Kent.
I've spent 15+ years learning what helps children thrive when they're finding learning tricky - and the answer is always 'it depends.'

It depends on the child, the environment, the team around them, what's already been tried. That's why I work collaboratively with families, SENCOs, and practitioners to find what works for this child in this context.

I hold a Masters in Autism and have worked as a Specialist Teacher in Swale for 8 years, but what matters more than qualifications is the ability to really see a child, understand their strengths, and help the adults around them build on those strengths together.
About me
I specialise in autism, early years, and Key Stage 1, with a particular focus on child-centred, strengths-based approaches. My academic background includes a BA Hons in Primary Education (Early Years and Key Stage 1) and a Postgraduate Certificate in Autism in Children.

I'm trained in evidence-based approaches including Intensive Interaction, SCERTS, the Curiosity Approach, PROACT SCIPr, SPELL, TEACCH, and Makaton. I've also developed expertise in emotional regulation, social communication (including Social Stories), PDA-informed practice, Gestalt Language Processing, and Sensory Processing and Interoception.

I continually update my practice through conferences like TES SEND and ongoing professional development, because the field evolves and so should we.
​
But honestly? The most important part of my work isn't the training I've done - it's the ability to listen, observe, and work collaboratively with the people who know each child best. That's where the real magic happens.
